Jeff Green has become the player that many of us had hoped for. It's just seven games, but he seems light years ahead right now. In the past seven games he's averaging 14 points. His defense has been highly visible. He's averaging a shade over one block a game, and these are monster blocks that seem to lead to something big. One part of Green's game that I wish would show up in the stats is rebounding. He's around 4 a game in the past seven games, and I think a good number for him would be five a game. The Celtics are 6-1 in the past seven games, and it's been everyone in the past six wins.
Green has been a key standout during this ride without Rondo. His defense against Lebron James a couple of Sunday's ago was solid. He played some good minutes on Kobe as well. Green has a golden opportunity right now. He can take the role as third option with Rondo out, and frankly the Celtics need it now more than ever.
Green is a plus four in scoring for the past seven games. Green averages 10 points a game. His assists are better in the past seven games as well. He's averaging 2.5 assist in the past four games. His season average is 1 a game. Green has been stellar in the open court, and his unique skill set is highly needed.
