The Celtics were in this game in the second quarter with the game tied 35-35. The Knicks went on a 14-0 run in the second, and that was enough to keep the Celtics at arms length for the rest of the game. J.R. Smith put in a game-high 32 points on 13-of-24 shooting. I was surprised the Celtics only lost the glass by just one 41-40
The Celtics went small as usuall trying to keep their most talented players on the floor, but it hurt them on the glass. The Knicks collected 27 second-chance points behind 15 offensive rebounds. Doc didn't use the bigs until garbage time. The Celtics had 19 turnovers, and that led to easy baskets for the Knicks. The Celtics have been playing sloppy, and it was brought up during the game that Pierce notices his young teammates are taking these games hard, and the confidence level is at their lowest of the season.
The Celtics continue to show they are what they are. A 7th seed in the East. The Celtics still had opportunities in this game despite KG being out. Doc was quoted as many of you know, that he said the bigs would play since KG is on the mend. White didn't see time, and Randolph came in when the game was gone. I see a team back at square one. I see a team down from the high of "let's win without Rondo", or for Rondo.
Jeff Green had the best game for the Celtics. He had 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists. Crawford started off solid, but he cooled off a bit.
