Another game under our belt.
This time it looks like we went down fighting, so I can’t say I’m mad at the guys or anything else. As long as the fire is there, I’m gonna be proud.
From the numbers, the game looks pretty balanced. Rebounds and turnovers were almost the same for both teams, and none of them ever took a big lead during the game.
A lot of our guys are seeing a good amount of playing time, and it seems what we’re missing is consistency, and that’s not surprising considering our leader is out.
Wallace had another strange box score, but so he did in the first game where he was very important for the leadership on the field, and honestly, as of right now, I prefer to have someone that can be the leader while Rondo is out, that someone that score 20 points while the rest of the team is in jeopardy. Wallace is really trying to stepping up and I’m really appreciating.
Green, after being left on the bench during the most important minutes in the previous game, played a team high 40 minutes, while almost all the other players played around 20 minutes. And he did good. I’m still not convinced he’s the kind of player that can take a team on his shoulder, but he can be helpful. I’m still having some trouble understanding him. I remember last year when I was sure that playing with Rondo could have make him a pleasure to watch, but he proved me wrong during the season, playing better with the ball in his hands while Rondo was out. I really hope they can turn it around together this year. Another big question mark for the same reason, to me is Lee. I’m still waiting for something big from him, but I didn’t see anything yet.
Crawford seems to be our only point guard for now. He always has the highest number of assist on the team. Everyday it appears more and more evident that Bradley is a shooting guard, and probably part of one of the best backcourt of the league together with Rondo.
Vitor, but especially Kelly, had a tough game. They have a lot to learn, and I expect them both to be better when Rondo will be back.
To sum everything up, we need Rondo. Every player that I analyzed above, every aspect of the game that I could understand from the box score, they all seem to miss Rondo.
I think some people didn’t think we could miss him so much. The fact that last year the guys played so well during the regular season without him made some fans think we could do that once again. But we had to veterans on the floor last year. A great leader in Garnett, and one of the best go to guy and another leader in Pierce. Rondo is our leader and go to guy now and we’ll be a lot better once he’ll be back.
December is not too far away… Let’s hope in an early Christmas present.
Meanwhile this is a big learning experience for the young guys.
As I heard in a song, “Every time you fall it’s only making your chin strong”
When Rondo will finally be back, we’ll be strong, and he’ll just make us a lot better.
