Oh, do you remember Chris Johnson? The guy who signed a 10-Day contract with the Celtics. Well, he'll finally get some time on the floor. Johnson averaged 19.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.0 block in 37.2 minutes per game for the Vipers in the D-League. I can't wait to see what this kid has.
“He’ll probably play. I thought he had a good practice today,” head coach Brad Stevens said after practice Monday at AmericanAirlines Arena. “Chris is another solid, solid person and guy to have around. That really factors in when you consider bringing anybody onto your team midseason. Certainly on a 10-day contract, the character side is a huge, huge factor. I’m glad he’s here and he’s going to get his opportunity.”
But the Celtics aren’t ready to give Johnson a chance against the two-time defending champions just because he’s a solid person.
“He’s a guy that can catch-and-shoot. He’s a guy that can put it on the floor. He curled to beat us at Brooklyn in the preseason (while he was with the Nets), if you guys remember that play, on a nice little curl off of a floppy set,” Stevens said. “He can crash from the wing, and he’s a very solid defender. I actually recruited him a little bit, so I’ve seen him play for a long time. What he’s done is, he’s really improved his shot since that early age.”
