What are Celtic fans thinking: Rondo playing for stats, and Jackson will fall on his face

Posted by shawn cassidy on November 11, 2012 at 6:30 AM

09celtics Some saying Rondo plays for his stats. That must be the most ridiculous thought ever. He loves to get assists and help his teammates get going. But mainly, he hates to lose more than anyone else

I didn't see that at all last night. Rondo made plays, and he wasn't forcing anything. Trust me if he forced his assist total the Celtics would have lost, and he wouldn't have continued the streak.

abdiraxman79 doc should hire mike brown as an assistant coach....

This was the follow up from another fan.

abdiraxman79 but seriously follow this logic, the c's hire mike brown who's a popovich student like doc, he helps the c's shore up their defensive problems(not that they need him, but he wouldn't hurt them) and if somehow the c's and lakers meet in the finals, both mike brown and the c's will have sweet revenge...........

I get the thinking behind it, and I kinda like the idea. But at the end of the day I don't think the Celtics need him. I'd rather see a Cowens, or an old Celtic help out. Or even Flip Saunders who helped the Celtics during the playoffs last year.

blk_polo I still don't think that doc has a clue about the roation, it seemed to be all over the place again tonight.

Doc found something Saturday night perhaps. Green is basically the focus off the bench because of Terry starting, and it allowed Green to be more free. Will it stick don't know, but the Celtics will get it.

abdiraxman79 i really hope phil jackson comes back, so he can witness the lakers epic meltdown in person...........kobe and dwight are diva1 and diva 1a. gasoft' s game has been on the decline, and mo-ron artest is still nutjob supreme. the lakers will eventually play better but will still get wrecked by okc in the playoffs

I hope he does, and I hope he doesn't. I would love to see him fall on his face, and it would be a great lesson for the Lakers. You can't win at any cost. The Lakers show once again they have no pride. Like the Celtic pride that runs through the Celtics franchise.

Flagabdiraxman79 love jason terry, you can pencil this dude in for 15 a game easily, he's gonna be sixth man or runner up by season's end.

Terry seems like he's got it now. He's averaging 15 points in the past three games, and he seems on track to be 6th man. But he may start more than he comes off the bench.

Even if Rondo made some effort to get stats, he sacrificed his stats overall, it seemed, by focusing on Defense

Yeah that's bogus. Rondo didn't forece himself to pass, and his turnovers proved that.

He had a tough game, very tough, but it seems that he accomplished the most important thing, which was putting the clamps on Jennings. At the same time, Pierce gave him credit for breaking down the Bucks' defense in the fourth.

yeah i think rondos pick and roll defense and 1 on1 defense has gotten better since we first started playing washington he had a rough shooting game last night a minor injury, but he was slicing up the defense on pick and rolls and drives and if his worst offensive game is one where he still gets 10 points to go with 10 assists thats fine the one thing i am worried about is the freethrow line he seems to be so unconfident up there right now unlike how he is with his jumpshot.

Thanks for the input. I was just so impressed with Rondo that he was willing to refocus because it's what the team needed, and I think the team was inspired by this
