I hated last year when Doc would credit C's losses to the fashion that it's a make or miss league. You'll have games like that. But when your 13-13 that's not the case. The Celtics flat lined because they have no idea who they are. Credit Doc for a good chunk of that. He plays small ball, and maybe big boy basketball for a game or two. This is what Doc said after the Celtics lost in overtime last night 99-94 to the pesky Bucks.
"I always jokingly -- and it’s [actually] the truth -- say it’s a make/miss league and tonight was evident of that," said Rivers. "I mean, we had point-blank looks at the rim all through the game, and one of the best shooters in the NBA in [Jason Terry] and Kevin [Garnett]. So we got these great shots, just couldn’t make them. And I thought as the game went on, you press more and more to make them and we just couldn’t. So, it was one of those games.”
Even though I agree with Doc from last nights game. I don't agree 100%. Yes KG had a poor shooting night, and yes Terry was god awful from the field shooting 1-0f-16. Isn't that like his second game shooting that bad this season? Well, who's counting. The issue is taking the ball into the paint. The Bucks shot way more free throws last night. 36 to Boston's 20. Doc is full of excuses, and maybe more so than the players. Doc has creditability, and I love how Doc coaches at times. Not every second in every game, but he has my respect, and what him as the coach. But when does a coach become to comfortable, and what can he do to fix this team?
